FRENCH CONCESSIONS EMPHASISED

FIVE POINTS ENUMER- , ATED (Received 10 a.m.) PARIS, March 21.

French official quarters emphasise the following five major concessions they made at the London conference: (1) They had not exercised the right to march into the remilitarised Rhineland zone.

' (2) They had not pressed for sanctions. , : . ~ (3) They withdrew their demands for the German evacuation of the Rhineland before negotiations are begun. . .

(4) They, agreed to the submission of the Franco-Soviet Pact to the Hague Court, with the obvious sequel of its abandonment if the Court decided against it. ' v l? (5) They withheld the demand that the German troops •be withdrawn from the Rhine if the Court decided aghinst it. . ■ • It is understood that the League may ask the Hague Court to give a ruling regarding the Franco-Soviet Pact if Germany refuses. Some of the Paris newspapers are nervous as to whether the British attitude will continue up to French expectations. M. Herriot, in an article in “LTnformation,” says he doubts whether British public opinion is sufficiently pro-French, He adds: “If our faith in treaties is violated again we shall regard the League as a factory for making scraps of paper.”
