TUNNELLER’S VICTORY

The autumn meeting of the Banks Peninsula Racing Club was held at Hotukarara on Saturday. The track was dead after recent heavy rains. The totalisator handled £12,496, as against £12,184 10/- on the corresponding day last year, an increase of £3ll 10/-. Results:—
Wairewa Trot, of 100 sovs; one mile and a quarter—(l6-14) Happy Bird, scr, 1; (2-2) King’s Drive, scr, 2; (4-8) Bill Grattan, scr, 3. Capacity was scratched. Half a length each way. Time—2.s7.
Peninsula Cup, of 165 sovs; one mile and a quarter.—(3-2) Tunneller, 8.2, 1; (1-2) Argehtic, 7.12, 2; (4-4) Riptide, 7.2, 3. Rona Bay was scratched. Won by a neck. Time—2.l3 3-5. Ahuriri Handicap, of 100 sovs; six furlongs.—(l-1) Concert Pitch, 8.13, 1; (5-5) Tooley Street, 8.4, 2; (2-3) Colombo, 8.9, 3. Rival Shot and Brevity were scratched. Won by a length and a half: Time—l.l7 2-5.
Kinloch Handicap, of 120 sovs; seven furlongs.—(l-1) Cranford, 8.5, 1; (4-5) Capital. 7.7, 2; (9-8) Cheap Money, 7.7. 3. Rona Bay and Lady Graceful were scratched. Won by three lengths. Time —1.31 3-5.
Waihora Park Trot, of 105 sovs; one mile and a half. —(3-3) Our War, 12yds, 1; (10-10) Glorietta, scr, 2; (6-6) Moana Tama, 24yds, 3. King’s Drive was scratched. Won by a length. Time—--3,32 2-5.
Forsyth Hack Handicap, of 100 sovs; seven furlongs.—(l-1) Ponty, 8.0, 1; (2-3) Silver Jest. 9.0. 2; (4-6) Free Rose, 8.9, 3. Owlsgleam was scratched. Won by two lengths; half a length. Time—l.3l.
