THROWN FROM HORSE
TWO GIRLS HURT [Special to " Northern Advocate.”] KAIWAKA, This Day. , When riding heme from school on Wednesday, Ruby, aged 13, and Ccleen, aged 5, youngest daughters of Mr William Bowmar, of Kaiwaka, were thrown heavily from their horse. The horse became frightened by a straying horse on the road, and the girls were unable to control it.
The children proceeded on their way home in a very hurt condition. Mrs Leabourne, sister and guardian of the children, at once ’phoned Mrs A. Gibbons, who is always very helpful on such occasions, and who was quickly to the assistance. ,
On examination it was found that Ruby was very badly bruised about the body, and cut about the hip and limbs. Coleen was not so badly hurt. The former child is still in bed at Mrs Gibbons’ home, and is’ receiving close attention by Mr? Gibbons, who is a qualified nurse. Coleen is in bed at her own home. Both children are progressing favourably but slowly, and it will be some time before they will be able to return to school.
