WESTFIELD STOCK

SMALL YARDINGS; KEEN COMPETITION [Special to "Northern Advocate.”] AUCKLAND, This Day. The yarding of ox' beef at the Westfield fat stock sale today was smaller , than the previous sale, and, as a result, keen competition was displayed for the choicer lines. The quality, generally, was well up to standard, although, in several cases, thete were a few inferior class cattle. The demand continues to keep steady, owing to exporters dealing on an extensive scale and naturally the yards are being filled short of requirements. Another contributing factor in the small yardings of late has been the wealth of good feed available and. vendors are holding a big portion of their * stock for the future. The cow and heifer pens were well filled; 'and a better demand prevails than ;has been in evidence recently. The quality being good, buyers had to increase their offering, and this section showed an increase on recent quotations, and a larger number of calves resulted in a brisk sale, with late rates Tully maintained. The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Co., Ltd., reports:— Beef. —We had an average entry of beef. Competition was keen, with values very firm at late rates.
