“N.Z. RAILWAYS MAGAZINE"

BIG FAKE EG?- FEBRUARY.

There are so many good things' in the February issue of the “N.Z. Railways Magazine” that a reviewer’s task is not easy in limited space. First of all the front cover—an excellent fourcolour picture of the Ward Bath Building—commands admiration. “Major Jackson and His Forest Rangers” is the subject of No. 35 of James Cowan’s “Famous New Zealanders.” “The name of the Forest Rangers,” he remarks, “is associated with the most adventurous and hazardous aspect of the warfare of the past, when personal values had not yet been submerged in the tide of frightfulness and scientific massacre.” Iris Wilkinson (“Robin Hyde”), who has definitely established herself as one of the brightest and pleasantest writers of New Zealand, continues her “New Zealand Journey” with a delightful chat on people and things in. and about Rotorua.
