LONDON, February 7,
'T'HE “Daily Mail” Athens correspondent says that King George has obtained the Government’s approval of a new lan' giving him ihe sole control of the army. This will enable him to solve the political deadlock arising out of the Royalist opposition to his amnesty provisions, and the fact that the Vehizelist and the anti-Venizelist parties secured almost the same number of seats in Parliament in the recent elections. The King, if he wishes, can now over-rule the opposition of the Royalist officers, who refuse to accept even a partial reinstatement of the Venizelist officers who were dismissed or banished after the March revolution, - By merely signing a decree his Majesty can remove any military leaders who oppose him, and replace them with his own supporters.
The King’s action is regarded in seme circles as a step towards a modified dictatorship.
