PREMIER DISTRICT SHOW

WAIOTIRA JUNCTION ASSN.

UNINTERRUPTED PROGRESS.

An Agricultural Show that can justify the claim of being North Auckland’s premier district exhibition is that of the Waiotira Junction' Show Association. Preparations are well in hand for this year’s fixture, the sixth annual event. An enthusiastic body of men under the presidency of Mr A. Stephen and assisted by a capable and energetic secretary in Mr S. W. Crawford, provides an with a practical knowledge of just what the public wants most and with the one desire to carry out to the letter a policy of progressiveness and advancement in the interests of matters agricultural. The show has, since its inception moved steadily on each year towards achieving bigger things from an exhibition standpoint. It has grown to such an extent that it now provides an inspiration to breeders of stock who wish to compete against class. The came applies to the inside section of the Shew which has assumed proportions where quality exhibits only can expect to measure up to the standard required by discerning judges. The inducement to the public to exhibit plays an important role in the success of any show and such inducement is most certainly in evidence with the Waiotira Show Association, which vides modern and up-to-date facilities for the purpose, together with a wealth of excellent prizes, both in cash and by way of trophies. Another factor bearing on the steady growth and the popularity achieved by the association is the ideal situation it enjoys. In the centre of a fertile' farming district and served by a railway junction, giving access to rich areas. North, South, East and West, it certainly lends itself admirably for an Agricultural Show, the safe and easy

transportation of stock to and from the venue being an all important feature. Valuable animals may be railed and penned for show purposes in real shew condition. A word or two on this year’s Show will not go amiss. The event is set down to be held on Wednesday, March 11th, a fraction over a month hence. This will give breeders of stock ample time to bring animals forward sufficiently for showing and.' at the same time provide those preparing garden produce and the like an opportunity of having their exhibits fully in order. The schedule of classes and the list of prizes is now available, copies of which may be had on application to the secretary, Mr S. W. Crawford, Maungakaramea. There are four hundred and forty-five classes open for competition, made up in various sections, including horses, cattle,: sheep, pigs, garden produce, fruit,’ dairy produce, baking, preserves, flowers, school work. etc. The closing date for entries; has been fixed for Thursday, March 5, excepting horses, which are post entry' It is the ambition of the executive to create still another record this year, and its fulfilment rests upon the support given by the public. 157
