BUSINESS BRIGHT

[Special to ”Northern Advocate/’] AUCKLAND, This Day.

Business on the Auckland' Stock Exchange was brisk this morning, and a big list of sales was put through at the first call, with advances recorded in several issues.

In the* banking section Australian shares were very firm, and Scottish made a further rise, with business at £6 5/-, and N.S.W.’s gained 5/-, with a sale at £34 15/-. Commercials were firm between 18/9 and 19/2. N.Z.’s held the recent values', with quotations from £2 8/- to £2 8/4. Other Australian shares were in keen demand, and a sale of Huddart Parkers at 39/6 showed a rise of 1/10. G. J. Coles took another up turn, with sales at £3 14/6, and £3 14/9. New Zealand newspapers were easier, and changed hands at 39/-. Government stocks were firm, and 37-40’s, with business at £lOl 10/-, showed a rise of 12/6.

The Noon Call

The following sales were recorded at the noon call: —Taupo Totara, 9/9; British Tobacco, £2 2/-; Consolidated Brick, 10/6; Electro Zinc., pref., £1 19/-; N.Z. Refrigerating, con., 10/11; Wilsons’ Cement, £2 8/-; N.Z. Government bonds, 4 per cent., £lO5.
