Down harbour the wind blew with ■hurricane force on Sunday morning, and backed up by the easterly sea, the tide, carrying so much fresh water, apparently,, did not go down.
Mr Frank Primmer’s seaside cot-
tage at McKenzie’s Bay, Taurikura, was blown off its foundations, and It was necessary to batten down
other roofs.
High School teachers, holidaying at the Heads, were brought back to Whangarei yesterday by the Rakanui, specially chartered for the purpose.
Cut off from all communication with the outside world, several of those who were stranded motored as far as they could and then walked until they could get taxis down for them.
