TRADES UNION TO SEEK « AMENDMENTS [Per Press Association. — Copyright.] WELLINGTON, This Day. Numerous alterations to the Labour legislation of New Zealand will be asked for by the Trades and Labour 'Council in the near future. Committees have been set up and are busy at „ the present time discussing amendments to the Industrial Conciliation and Arbitration Act, Workers' Compensation Act, Shops and Offices Act, and Factories Act. Consideration is also being given to the Apprenticeship Act, but amendments to it have not yet been suggested. A meeting of union officials, called by the Wellington Trades and Labour Council, was held on January 14, when committees were set up to prepare amendments. Last night another large meeting of trades union executive members was held to consider proposed amendments. The meeting authorised a committee to meet other industrial organisations, ?n order to finalise the proposed amendments before placing them before the Minister of Labour.
