MODERATE BUSINESS FSpeciat to “Nortnern Advocate.’'] AUCKLAND, This Day. Following the holiday break, business on the Auckland Stock Exchange was fairly quiet this morning, but values were steady. There was more interjest in the insurance section, with buyers for five separate issues. In the banking division, New South Wales eased a little, with transactions at £32 12/6, a drop of 2/6, and a subsequent market between £34 10/ and £34 15/.

New Zealands had fresh business at £2 7/6, and more wanted. For Reserves, buyers moved up 6d to £5 12/6, sellers still at £5 15/. Government stocks were steady at late rates. Noon Call. The following sales were recorded at the noon call; —South British, £4 10/6; New Zealand Drug, £4 1/; New Zealand Newspapers (3), £2 1/6; New Zealand Refrigerating (contributing), 10/11; Woolworth (New Zealand), pref., £1 18/6; Martha Mines. £1 1/; Placer. 5/6.
