/ANE of the “Unlucky Six’" Syndicate. Mr C. Green. Rangiora. received a surprise last evening when informed that No. 195439 ticket had won the second prize of the £2OOO in Tattersails' sweep. Mr Green lost no time in verifying the correctness of the number, and said: “This will be good news for my mates, who are all in the employ of the Railway Department." The joint holders of the ticket are: — Messrs C. Green, W. Mann, T. Jenkins, M Rice. W. Holder and I. Anderson. Mr Rice is a fireman. He was born at Opua, Bay of Islands, 38 years ago, and is a single man. TN common with all other Government offices, the Magistrate’s Court was closed today, which was observed as a day of mourning for the late King. Business was immediately suspended yesterday, when advice of His Majesty's death was received. AN account of the day of national mourning for King George, results of the University entrance examinations will not be available until a day later' than was at first anticipated. They will now be published in the newspapers on Saturday.
rpHE Governor-General. Lord Galway, travelled to Wellington last night, with a number of his staff, where he is to remain until the period of Court mourning has been observed.
