WESTFIELD STOCK

BEEF VERY FIRM [Special to “ Northern■ Advocate.”] AUCKLAND, This Day. There was a small entry of ox beef yarded at the Westfield fat stobk sales today, but the cow and heifer section was fully up to requirements. Reports to hand from the country districts state that buyers of chilled beef have been particularly active, of late, and many lines that would have otherwise found their way to the market have been disposed of through other channels. An abundance of feed and a shortage of store cattle are also contributing to vendors retaining most of their stock. Tire sale today was brisk, and keen competition resulted in a very firm market. Top price of the morning, £l4. was realised for an/ exceptionally fine steer, sold on account of Mr B, Reed, Wairenga. The calf pens were also well short of requirements, and buyers, in most

cases had to pay extreme prices to gain th-iir supplies. The quality was average. but included some very choice vealers.
