KAITAIA DAIRY DIRECTORATE.

(To the Editor). Sir, —In reply to Mr Lewis’ letter in the “Advocate,” dated December 30th in which he claims that an entirely new board would give us as good a pay-out the first year as under tthe old board, this statement does not appear sound after our experiences under the dominating influence of new members on the board, which has just resigned. It would not be fair to expect the same service from inexperienced men, and for a man of Mr Lewis’ experience on the board to say all arguments against new members are based on self-conceit and self-glorification is ludicrous, and does not show sound judgment on his part. Mr Lewis says he believes a board of new men, without past feuds and grievances, or axes to grind, would be the ideal one. Looking oyer the list of nominations, there are quite a number of new men, who, by their statements, seem to have feuds and grievances a-plenty. Why does Mr Lewis now recommend a board free from autocratic principles, when he supported the last chairman, and was responsible lor most of the recent troublg through turning down experienced' men and supporting an inexperienced chairman, who, in the writer’s opinion, was autocratic. There is also an insinuation that the old members were the servants of the company’s employees. Was not Mr Lewis the servant of Mr McCarthy, when he stated at a general meeting that Mr McCarthy was the “king-pin?” If the old members had not taken the stand they did. they would have failed in their duty to the company, and what a mess the company would have been in now had those, gentlemen been new and inexperienced men, not sure of their position. In conclusion, I wish to state that Mr Lewis’ surmise that the letter mentioned was from an old board member is entirely wrong, but that it came from an unbiassed source, whose sole wish is to see men on the directorate who follow, as near as humanly possible, Mr Lewis’ three main essentials—honesty, fairness and sound judgment.—l am, etc., COMPANY FIRST, i
