HOLIDAY CRUISES

TWO AUCKLAND YACHTS IN $■ SEVERAL LOCALS AWAY. Annual cruises have brought about a considerable efflux of local pleasure craft during the past few days. Most Aucklanders were due back home at the week-end, but there are still quite a number flitting about the coast. Two were at Whangarei yesterday, the 32-foot C class keeler Roiaata, and the 22-foot mullet-boat Hetty. The Roiaata, which moored at the piles on Satui'day afternoon after beating fi'om Whangarur.u, is a new arrival on the Waitemata, this being her first season in the water. She hails from Tercel Bros.’ . yards, from which the Revel and Roxane, tw r o local yachts, were produced. She is ideally lined for cruising, being roomy and comfortable, with excellent head room.”" There were four on board, including her owners, Messrs Crimson Bros, who are associated with the Akarana Club. A foi'tnight of the three weeks’ cruise has been passed in visiting Northern resorts, as far as Mangonui. The Roiaata is marconi-rigged, with a 49-foot mast. She has had two outings in races at home, and has gained a first and a second, so that evidently she is a combination of speed and comfoi’t. Like many other visitors from the city, the ci’ew of the Roiaata favourably commented on the berthing facilities at the Town Wharf basin, which they quitted this morning in continuation of their southerly coui’se. The Hetty (L 5) came in on Sunday. She also has been North and is now heading homewards.
