FORTY-FIVE YEARS’ SERVICE. MRS F. CULLEN HONOURED. During a recent mornrng service at the Congregational Church, Maungaturoto, a very pleasing incident took place, when the Rev. R. T. Wearne, on behalf of the congregation, presented Mrs Fred Cullen with a beautiful bedroom clock in recognition of her forty-five years’ service as a member of the chufch choir, from which she had to retire owing to ill-health. Mrs Cullen briefly responded. Personal. Mr and Mrs Hickson and Miss Joan Hickson, of Auckland, were the guests of Mr and Mrs Fred Cullen, “Mountain View,” for the New Year, and returned by car on Thursday evening. Mr and Mrs John Kendall and their son, lan, of Ellerslie, are spending a holiday with Mr and Mrs Edwin Cullen. Mr and Mrs A. Ridling have returned after spending an enjoyable holiday under canvas at Batley. Mr and Mrs Neil Finlayson are enjoying a camping holiday at Batley. Mrs Neil McMillan, of Moerewa, recently spent a short holiday with her sister, Mrs H. Smith. Miss D. Peacocke is the guest of Mrs Mclnnes. Maungaturoto Railway. Mrs McLean and Mr Campbell McLean are the visitors of Mrs Williams. Mr and Mrs Arnold Cullen are holidaying at Waipu Cove. Mr and Mrs E. V. Janee and family are spending an enjoyable holiday camping at Lang’s Beach. Mrs M. Cullen is on a holiday visit to Cowes Bay. Miss Phyllis Cullen has returned after spending the New Year vacation with Mr and Mrs Sentch at Waipu. Mr J. Cockerton has returned after spending a holiday in Auckland. Mr H. Smith, junr., is home again' after spending a holiday with his uncle and aunt, Mr and Mrs Geo. Austin, of Marua. A Fisherman’s Picnic, Mr and Mrs Arthur Hellyn, of Whakapirau, held a delightful picnic at their residence on New Year’s Day. The-visitors, who spent a most enjoyable day on the beach in front of the house, swimming and fishing, were: Mr and Mrs Ernest Smith, of Milford; Mr and Mrs G. H. Smith, Mr and Mrs D. Richardson and family, Mrs H. Smith and her daughters, and Mr D. Smith. Mr Ernest Smith, who is well kn&wn in the district as a keen fisherman, despite his 79 years, spent a happy time with his sons and grand’ sons fishing bn the river, and has now a few more fish stories to add to his collection.
