FORESTRY ON RETIRED LIST (Received 1.30 p.m.) SYDNEY, This Day. The Limond gelding Forestry has finished his racing career, and is now being used as a station hack. He was offered to the Governor-General-designate, Lord Gowrie, as a hack, but he was. considered too big. He is one of the biggest horses to be raced in recent years. After recovering from breaking down, Forestry recently won four races under big weights. He has middle-distance records for Rosebery and Victoria Park, which still stand to his credit.

However, the strain told against the gelding, and when he again broke down it was decided .to retire him. Owing to difficulties in finding shipping space, it is possible that Walla Walla may have to forgo his engagement in the inter-Dominion trotting championship at Perth and a similar difficulty may be encountered by the New Zealand trotters when they reach Australia. Should that be the case, there is a possibility that the carnival may be postponed. Sporting Blood was to have returned to New Zealand today, but the trip has been cancelled. He is remaining for the autumn meeting. His trainer, A. Mclntosh, left by the Aorangi yesterday. He intends returning with several horses in the autumn.
