MISS MABEL ATKINSON. [Per Press Association.-—Copyright,] NELSON, This Day. The death has occurred of Miss Mabel Atkinson, a daughter of the late Mr Arthur Atkinson. Miss Atkinson was born at New Plymouth, and came to Nelson with her family on account of the Maori wars. She was educated in England and Switzerland, and later was trained as a midwife and masseuse in London. During the Great War, Miss Atkinson was a V.A.D. nurse in England and France. She took a prominent part in the Girl Guides movement and in the Plunket Society. MR ALFRED REID [Per Press Association. —Copyright.] HASTINGS, > This Day. The death has occurred of Mr Alfred Reid, aged 84. For many years, Mr Reid was an auctioneer for Messrs Williams and Kettle, and was one of the best-known personalities among farmers, stock dealers and sportsmen in Hawke’s Bay. He was born in the Wanganui district, where his father owned a farm. On the death of his father, who was a Taranaki pioneer, Mr Reid came to Hawke’s Bay in 1890. He is survived by his wife, a daughter of the late Major Durie, for many years resident magistrate at Wanganui. MR THOMAS BLOOR. TAURANGA, This Day. The death occurred on Wednesday of Mr Thomas Mellor Bloor, aged 70. Mr Bloor was born at Cheadle, Staffordshire, and was educated at Monk House Grammar School. He ' arrived in New Zealand on his 20th birthday, and after spending five years in North Auckland proceeded to Hawke’s Bay. In 1918 he took up farming in the Bay of Plenty district, and seven years ago he retired to Tauranga.
