SEAMEN’S LICENSING TO BE ENFORCED

(Received 10 a.m.) MELBOURNE, December 24. The Federal Attorney-General, Mr R. G. Menzies, announced today that the Federal Government would enforce licenses for seamen as from Tuesday next. He added that it would be quite impossible to have a system of employment on ships by which gome men were licensed and some were not. The Melbourne seamen today received their first strike pay, that of married men being 10/- and single men 7/6.
