A FATAL collision between a motor cycle and a lorry occurred yesterday afternoon at Kilbirnie. The cyclist, Earle K. McClune, parcel delivery messenger, died shortly after his admittance to the hospital. His left leg was severed and he received severe head injuries, a fracture of the jaw and concussion.

A N unmarried farmer, Mr Oates Davidson, aged 40, of Waimea Plains, died suddenly when returning home yesterday afternoon. He was driving a horse and gig and his body, was found early in the evening on the Riversdale Road. Mr Davidson had been in poor health and had been receiving medical attention. It is surmised that he had a seizure causing him to fall from the gig. ( •

(TVHOMAS Cripps,. of Langdale, was seriously injured and a passenger, Mrs Thompson, suffered leg and arm injuries when his car left the road near Tainui yesterday, says a Masterton message. Another passenger, Mrs Cripps, escaped injury.

A MAN’S body found in some bush jus't off Wellington Terrace has been identified as that, of John Kerr Campbell ,who was reported missing three weeks ago. Mi- Campbell ’ was 63 years of age and lived at 106 Wellington Terrace, his body being found near the rear of his property. It is understood he was formerly connected with the sawmilling industry in the North.

T> EGRETFUL and affectionate leave of the retiring Bishop of Wellington, Rt. Rev. T. H Sprott -and Mrs Sprott, was taken by the people of the diocese at .a valedictory gathering in the Town Hall Concert Chamber yesterday afternoon. Bishop and Mrs Sprott witnessed a remarkable demonstration of the esteem in which they are held, the hall being filled. Bishop Sprott was presented with a wallet containing a substantial cheque, representing contributions from members of the Church in every part of the adiocese. Among others who attended was Archbishop O’Shea, Archbishop of Wellington and Metropolitan of New Zealand.
