SWIMMING CONTROL
N.Z. EDUCATIONAL INSTITUTE [Per Press Association. — Copyright .] CHRISTCHURCH, This Day. Registration fees payable by members of swimming clubs to the New Zealahd Amateur Swimming Association have been suspended for the last two years. The Council of the Association last night decided against suspending the fees for this year. The financial statement showed that the association was in a sound position. A sum of £220 had been transferred to the education fund account and £l6O brought forward from the revenue account. On the year’s operations the council was £226 in credit, as against £320 at the end of the previous year.
It was decided not to take any part in the projected visit of a water polo team from New South Wales, as suggested by Auckland. The cost of a two weeks’ visit would be about £SOO. In answer to a question from the Auckland centre, the council reaffirmed its decision that all journalists, including free lance journalists, would not incur loss of amateur status by writing notes on swimming for newspapers.
The officers elected were:—President, Mr W. E. D. Bishop; deputy-president, Mr F. L. Collins; North Island representative. Mr P. Coira; treasurer, Mr F. G. Dunn; handicapper, Mr P. Coii’a; auditor, Mr R. L. Hicks; secretary, Mr B. O’Neill; representative to International Federation, Mr John Hodgson.
