BUTTER EXPORT
NEW YORK PURCHASES I I ' ‘ j SHIPMENT BY TEKOA I SALES AT 11D. PEE LB. [Per P-'ess Association—Copyright.! WELLINGTON, This Day. New York interest in New Zealand butter has revived during the past f e w days, and, as a result of a number of sales having been made, the New Zealand Shipping Company’s steamer Tekoa was yesterday afternoon definitely fixed to call at New York, on the way to London. New York buyers came to the New Zealand butter , market about the middle of November, buying some 5000 boxes at from 11-Jrd to 12d per lb,, f.o.b. The Canadian National steamer, Canadian Conqueror, which left Auckland on November 19, took 1750 boxes, while over 3000 boxes were booked, for the Canadian Scottish, to leave Wellington on December 21. It was then arranged that the Tekoa would call at New York if a minimum of 10,000 boxes could be guaranteed by November 25.
New York interest, however, then ceased, probably owing to the narrow margin of profit on the butter prices then r ruling. With the recent decline of about 10/ per cwt. in London prices, however, American buyers have again come into the market, and it is understood that the Tekoa will take well over the guaranteed minimum.
Most of the butter for shipment by the Tekoa has been sold at lid per Ib.J f.o.b.
