STOCK EXCHANGE
SUBSTANTIAL TURNOVER GOVERNMENT stocks in DEMAND. [Special to "Northern Advocate ”]. AUCKLAND, This Day. There is quite a healthy tone on the Stock Exchange, and a substantial turn-over has been recorded over the past 24 hours. A feature has been a better demand for Government stocks and a partial recovery in vaules. At this morning’s call 46’s changed hands at £lO5, a rise of 15/-, after which the market settled between £lO4 10/-, and £1 higher. Also in the fixed-term class there was a sale of Amalgamated Bricks, which gained another 5/- with a sale at £lO2, after which buyer's remained in at 10/- less and sellers dropped out. The banking section was rather quiet. Commercials were wide apart from 17/7 to 18/-. In the miscellaneous section values were steady. Gas shares improved with buyers' at 1/6 and no sellers;

The following sales were recorded at the noon call: — Commercial bank, 17/9; Reserve. £6; National Insurance, £3 4/-; Consolidated Erick, £11; K.D.V. Boxes, contributing, 9/9; Union Oil, £1 10/-; Government stocks, 3£ per cent., 193943, £lO2 5/-.
