SEARCH FOR AIRMEN
MR O’HARA’SOFFER SCOURING THE ANTARCTIC ELLSWORTH AND KENXON. ISpecial to “Northern Advocate.”] AUCKLAND, This Day. The New Zealand airman, Mr -O-Hara, who. recently flew the Tasman, has offered his own aeroplane and his services free to the proposed Australian expedition to search for Mr Lincoln Ellsworth and Mr T. Hollick Kenyon. A cable from Canberra on Monday said: the Federal Government was-considering sending an expedition to the Antarctic to look for the 'lost aeroplane; Last night Mr O’Hara cabled the Federal Minister of Defence, Mr R. A. Parkhill, offering his services free. Mr . O’Hara said that he thought New Zealand should be included in . the search party. Should the Discovery 11. make the voyage to the 'South she would probably leave from .Dunedin, and he would be prepared to fly his machine there, or, for that matter, to any other port in New • Zealand, to join the ship. He thought his aeroplane would be suitable, as it has a flying range as as any machine in Australia. WYATT EARP STARTS QUEST (Received 10 a.m.) NEW YORK, December 3. A wireless message from the North American Newspaper Alliance from ■ the Ellsworth Antarctic Expedition ■says-: '”■■■■ “li is now nine days since word was received from Mr Lincoln Ellsworth, and* the Wyatt Earp is on her way to Magallanes to pick up an aeroplane for the search. Today we are passing Tierra del Fuego. ‘‘On . the ; assumption that Mr Ellswdrth and Mr Kenyon safely completed their flight, we might have gone direct to the Ross Sea, but, in the event of their not being there by the time the boat arrived some time in January, it would be too late in the season to make arrangements for relief.- Hence our decision to lay down depots in accordance with the prearranged plan.
