PERSONALS. - Mrs W. Overton and Mrs A. W. Sharpe, who have been visiting their daughters, Mesdames Rupert and Elleray Fell respectively, have returned to their homes in Auckland. Miss Moore, of Auckland, has arrived to take up a position with A. S. Andrewes, Ltd. Mr W. Newman was a visitor to Dargaville for the week-end. The Rev. Scott has returned from a trip to Auckland. Mr Morris, auditor for the Bank of New South Wales, left Kohukohu on Monday morning for Rawene. Miss Soames, who has been a resident of Kohukohu for the last six months, has returned to her home m Onehunga. The local tennis club held their annual ball in the Town Hall on Friday evening. The function proved a great success. Dancers came from Opononi, Rawene, Broadwood and Umawera. The club captain, Mr A. U. Day._ as M.C., kept the dancing at full swing. The club will benefit considerably. Mr Lane, of Okaihau, has been appointed postmaster at Kohukohu, in place of Mr D.' Marshall, who has been transferred south. Mr Lane is a keen golfer, and will be an asset to the local golf club. Tennis. Following are the - results of the Grace Cup competition: Men’s singles (Kohukohu v. Rawene): V. Potter v. Kohukohu (holders of the Grace Cup), retained the trophy.
MARUA | On Friday, a cup-and-sauccr aftci-j noon was given by Miss Ailsa Swim j bourn at her home, tjhe guest of hon- 1 our being Miss Lillian Low, whose marriage takes place on Thursday. Many friends were present, and a delightful afternoon was spent. A competition, “Ancient and Modern Celebrities," was won by Miss Isa Mcßreen. On Monday. Miss Low was tendeied a kitchen evening in the Marua Hall, where many well-wishers gathered. Excellent dance music was provided by Messrs. Saul and Maxwell. Mi Billington was M.C. Songs by Mr Sut- j cliffe were much appreciated. After j supper, Mr Swinbourn, on behalf of those present, asked Miss Low to accept the gifts as a small memento from her many friends. Mr L. Richardson replied on her behalf. Miss Low was the recipient of many useful presents.
