KAITAIA PRESENTATION

A POPULAR OFFICIAL. Mr Ray Bartlett, who has been clerk at the Magistrate’s Court, Kaitaia, for over 18 months, has been transferred to Auckland and left Kaitaia on Thursday, November 21.’ On Wednesday evening the Magistrate Court officials and members of the legal profession met to bid Mr Bartlett farewell.

Mr A. Logan, on behalf of those present and others unable to attend, presented Mr Bartlett with a silver cake dish. In doing so, he said he had always found Mr Barlett capable and obliging, and he eixpected very much that a result of his efficiency should be the loss of his services by Kaitaia, which would be Auckland’s gain. The relationship between him and the legal profession had been very happy. In his private life, Mr Bartlett had set an example to all young men, and had won the respect of the people generally. Mr Logan congratulated him on his promotion. . Mr Roy Kelly, speaking in the same strain, said he was grateful to Mr Bartlett for the many courtesies and kindnesses shown officially. He presented Mr Bartlett, on behalf of the tennis club, with a handsome cake stand.

Mr Mark Thornell spoke in highly complimentary terms of his associate in court duties who, he said had lived an exemplary life which could not have failed to influence for good all he came in contact with. His application to study and duty would be sure to gain for him steady advancement. Mr Taylor also expressed his obligation to Mr Bartlett for assistance, and referred to him as a young man of high ideals. Mr Bert Moller spoke on behalf of the younger men.
