I BOWLING GREEN. Owing to the difficulty in getting seeds to germinate this spring, the date for the opening of the Kaitaia Bowling Club’s season drew near whilst a large black patch of the green stubbornly resisted all attempts at regrassing. Fortunately, on the outskirts of the green, where the conditions were more favourable, the caretaker had sown, where flower plantspreviously existed, a sufficient area in grass to re-tUrf the bare place.on the green. The be-turfing was hfeatly done attd the erstWhiie gfassless area is how indistinguishable from the remainder of the green. The new caretaker has deservedly received many compliments on the state of the club’s grounds generally; There is not an untidy spot within the whole enclosure, and the Croquet Club’s lawns adjoining have _ a 50 per cent, better appearance than in. any previous season. Apart from the rose-beds, where the trees are beginning to bloom freely, there is little display of flowers yet, bUt hedges, .shrubs and trees look remarkably Well. Right to Vote.

Since the, opening of an office by the National Government Party at Kaitaia, there have, been many applications for enrolment, one hundred, and eleven passing through the hands of Mr Gordon Miller, local secretary for the Bay of Islands National Government candidate. Notwithstanding the lafge sign over the party’s office and the facilities afforded by the Post Office for enrolment, it is not unusual for the enquiry: “Where can I ehrbl?” to be addressed to someone in the street. As the election has now been fixed for November 27, not much time remains for those who have neglected so far to ensure for themselves the right to vote, to make good the omission.
