The Romance of Refrigeration Refrigeration has been a most important factor in the development of New Zealand. ( The first shipment of refrigerated cargo mutton and lamb left New Zealand in 1882. Since that time vast quantities of frozen meat, dairy produce, and fruit, have been shipped to the other side of the world, and sold, during almost the whole period, at profitable prices. Throughout the trading history of New Zealand the Banks have played a leading part in financing the development of export industries. By providing financial assistance to farmers and merchants, the banks have used their resources to assist the promotion of enterprises necessary to the country’s welfare. By sound and careful management the banks have met all changing conditions, and helped to ensure the nation’s financial stability. _lnserted by the Associated Banks of New Zealand.
