DEATH OF CHIEF SECRETARY. [Per Press Association. — Copyright.} CHRISTCHURCH, This Day. Advice of the death, in London, of Mr S. J. Monk, chief secretary to the Royal Life Saving Society, has been received in Christchurch. Mr Monk was prominently connected with life saving from the inception of the movement, and he and Mr William Henry, the founder, were chiefly responsible for its success. About eight years ago he succeeded Mr Henry as secretary to the society. f
