NORTHERN ROAD WORKS
TWO NEW ROUTES INCLUDED. CAMPS FOR UNEMPLOYED. [Special to “Northern Advocate/’] DARGAVILLE, This Day. The Hobson County Council has received advice from the Minister of Employment. Mr S. G. Smith, that camps for unemployed are to be established to carry out following road works:— Dargaville to Pukehuia. —Road forming and metalling, 3 miles; estimated cost, £4,103. This new route will give access to properties having a frontage to the Northern Wairoa River, which was formerly served by river steamers. Tutamoe and Ranga'tira.—Road metalling, 4 miles (£2.500). This portion of the road was formerly the brain route connecting with Kaihu and Tr> hoke. and was built at considerable expenditure. Hoyle’s to Waiotira (Arapohue main highway).—Road forming and metalling, 4 miles (£2,123), the new direct access to the Waiotira railway junction saving some 10 miles.
