LATE NEWS

RAZOR SLASHER.— A Christchurch message states that George Wilson was charged, before Mr E. C. Levvey today, with assault, and with being a rogue and a vagabond, in that he solicited alms. Evidence was given that Wilson had made a razor-slashing attack outside a Christchurch hotel on Saturday. The police stated that Wilson was addicted to drink, and had one of the worst records known. He was a beer cadger, and on Saturday, he had menaced customers with a razor. He was one of the dangerous men in New Zealand. “Well, we can’t have this razor business starting here,” said the magistrate, who sent Wilson to gaol for 12 months, on a charge of being a rogue and a vagabond, and convicted and discharged him on the assault charge. INVITATION TO KIPPAX.— Alan Kippax, whom the Australian Board of Control refused to allow to join Mr Tarrant’s team- for India, has received a private invitation from the Maharajah of Patiala to visit India, and presumably, play with the Maharajah’s eleven against the touring side. Kippax said ho would preach a decision within a few days.
