THE MEN’S COMPETITIONS ’KARAMEA LEAD BY A POINT KIA ORA WIN LADIES’ B :. With only three more matches to be played, the position in the Whangarei Hockey Association’s men’s competition is decidedly interesting. _ The final stage? are being fought put between ’Karamea, Mangapai and United. Mangapai dropped: a point last Saturday by a drawn game, and this has placed them equal with United, who also have 17 points. ’Karamea lead by one point, but United still have a ..game in hand. ‘Springfield, with 13. and Ramblers, 10, follow. . * The ladies’ A section is all but finalised, and the only game to be played is between Old Girls and High • School, which was postponed some time ago. At present Hinemoa lead with 17 points, Old Girls have 15 and School 14. • The ladies’ B section has been completed, -Kia Ora being the winners .-with a four-point margin. Kia Ora have 14 points, Onerahi 10 and Wesley 9. The following are the points tables:

Management Committee. A meeting of the management committee was held last night, when it was announced that six Whangarei ladies had been chosen for the Auckland provincial team to take part in the New Zealand tournament at Gisborne. The following have been selected:—Misses Cotter, Hutchins (Hinemoa). Mrs. Saul and Miss 1 Hirtzell (Hora Hora). Miss Bercich (’Karamea). Miss Burch (Old Girls). Old Girls and School will play their outstanding game in the A section on Saturday. If Old Girls win, a playoff with Hinemoa, the leaders, will be necessary. It was decided that the A section should play a knock-out competition to complete the season. The ladies’ B section has been finalised, but an extra round will be played. The Rodney ladies will play Whangarei for the Hannam Shield on August 24. A return match will be paid to Rodney on September 7, both men’s and ladies’ teams travelling.
