CAUGHT BY FLOODS

MINISTER’S ADVENTURES. SIR ALEXANDER YOUNG. [Special io “Northern Advocate."] HAMILTON, This Day. Only under considerable difficulty was Sir Alexander Young, Minister of Health, able to proceed from Opotiki to Hamilton yesterday. Extensive flooding had covered up much of the road, and, at one point on the way to Kutarere, an inland sea confronted him. Sir Alexander was about to turn back, when a lorry, driven by Mr G. Sones. appeared. The latter walked in front of the lorry, which was driven by the Minister’s Private Secretary, Mr J. T. Waugh, while Sir Alexander followed in his car. In this manner the dangerous stretch of road was negotiated.
