PURGING THE ROLL

BAY OF ISLANDS ELECTORATE. NOW COMPLETED. The returning officer for the Bay of Islands electorate stationed at Kaikohe, reports that the purging of the roll is now completed. As against the old roll, the new roll shows a considerable change. It was necessary to take out the names of 950 electors. However, the new roll shows 9719 electors, so that when it is compared with the old one of 9569. it will be seen that in spite of the purging, there has been a considerable increase in the number of electors. The increase can be 1 - wholly attributed to new residents 1 in the electorate, .which extends from, the North Cape to Hikurangi, and to persons who have attained their majority since the last roll was compiled
