Comj petition was keen, and values im- } proved 5/ to 10/ per head, or about ii/ per lOOlbs. Extra choice ox sold to 27/ per lOOlbs; choice and prime, 23/ ' o 26/; ordinary and plain, 18/ to 22/; : prime young cow and heifer beef, 22/ vo 26/; ordinary cow beef, 10/ to 21/. No extra heavy . prime steers were nenned. Heavy prime, £lO to £lO 15/; lighter prime, £9 to £9 17/6; light, prime, £7 15/ to £8 17/6; unfinished and small, £6 10/ to £7 10/; extra heavy prime young cows and heifers, £7 10/ to £8 7/6; heavy prime, £6 7/6 to £7 7/6; lighter, £5 to £6 5/; light cows, £3 to £4 17/6; j ether cows, £1 10/ to £2 15/. I Sheep.—We had an average entry jof sheep, comprised mostly of ewes. I There was keen competition for prime wethers, which were better worth. Prime ewes eased 1/ to 2/ per head. Heavy prime wethers, 29/ to 30/3; medium prime, 26/9 to 28/9; light prime, 23/3 to 26/6; small and unfinished, 20/ to 23/; heavy prime ewes, 21/ to 22/6; medium prime, 19/ to 20/9; light prime. 16/ to 18/9; inferior. 10/ to 15/. Lambs. —Lambs, penned in , small numbers, met with a ready sale, values being firm at late rates. Extra prime sold to 25/9; heavy prime. 22/ to 24/; medium prime, 19/9 to 21/9; light prime, 17/ to 19/6; unfinished, 13/ to 16/9. Pigs.—Pigs, again were penned in average numbers. There was no advance, values being easier, if anything. Choppers sold from • 30/ to GO/; heavy and' medium baconers, 58/ to 70/; light ' baconers and heavy porkei’s, 46/ to 56/; medium arid light j
porkers, 24/ to 44/: small and unfinished, 23/ to 30/. There was a keener demand for store pigs. Values improved on last week’s rates. Large stores, 23/ to 27/; slips, 16/ to 21/; weaners, 10/ to 19/. Calves.—There was a good average yarding of calves. No extra quality were penned. The demand is still good, and values were well on a par ; +h last week’s quotations. Runners, 50/ to 87/6; heavywealers, 70/ to 84/; medium. 60/ to 68/; light. 48/ to 58/; smaller 36/ to 46/; small and freshdropped, 5/ to 34/; rough calves, 15/ to 30/. ■ Individual Consignments. In the ox beef section, three trucks of well-finished steers from the estate ! of D. Finlayson, Paparoa, realised up to £lO 15/, and £9 was the top price for a line from Mr W. H. Drewin, of Kaukapakapa. A consignment from IMr J. Anderson, of Maungaturoto. j realised £8 17/6. In the cow and | heifer beef market Mr R. Poyner, of | Paparoa, received £5 17/6 per head ! for the offering he submitted. I I
