Kelly put up the best effort over six furlongs, but Baroscope and Lord Val went well over the same distance, while Psychologist reeled off a smart half-mile. Raeine 1 Lady ran home from the fivefurlongs post easily in 1.13 2-5. and Courthaven finished up a useful task by traversing her last five in 1.10. Hope Lass also completed five furlongs in 1.9 4-5. Kelly, carrying a light weight, reeled off' six furlongs in 1.18 3-5. This was a very pleasing performance. Sir Romeo worked over a round, completing his task m 1.52 2-5. Zane Grey did useful work running half a mile. In 56 2-ssec, and repeated \ the task in 59sec. Kiltowyn Sound. 1 Air Lassie and Tybalt strode over half a mile in 56sec. They could have improved on the time. Over a similar distance Psychologist finished in front of Fleetwind in 52sec. Psychologist worked with plenty of dash, and Fleetwind could have bettered her time. Gold Rod and Court Armour were timed to run half a mile in 55 3-ssec. There was little between them at the finish. Kiltowyn completed a round in 1.50 3-5, the last six furlongs being covered in 1.24 4-5. This horse is getting through a sound preparation. Jewelled Girdle was well clear of Charsong at the conclusion of six furlongs in 1.24. They ran the first three in 40 2-ssec. Charsong displayed pace early, but did not go at all well over the final stages. Free Advice, a black filly by Hunting Song from Golden Opportunity, ran ! home from the three-furlong post in !42 l-ssec. ! Express and Teddy Boy got to the end of five furlongs in 1.8 1-5, both doing their work in good style. Baroscope Goes Better. Red Flame was going easily throughout six furlongs in 1.25 4-5, and her stable-mate, Heatherland. sprinted three furlongs, but was not timed. King March and Sir Abb reeled off three furlongs in 42 2-ssec. Both went well and there was little between them at the finish.
Lord Val had Baroscope as a companion over six furlongs, and they finished, practically on terms in 1.20, the last half-mile taking 54sec. Baroscope worked much better than he did earlier in the week. Roman Mascot and Armacourt had little in reserve after travelling half a mile in 53 2-ssec. Hawthorn and Tea Chat, worked over six furlongs in 1,28 2-5. Over a similar distance Primak registered 1.28 1-5. Gascelle was given strong work over about a mile and a half, averaging about 15sec to the furlong. Lady Diana worked steadily over a round, taking 44 "3-ssec for her last three furlongs. Val Spear worked on the sand and Grand Spirit also did strong work on the same track. The Jumpers. Ruling King and Chief Ehlefald gave a good exhibition over six hurdles. Hawthorn and Tea Chat also shaped well while jumping four of the same obstacles. AUSTRALIAN RACING ROSEBERY EVENTS. SYDNEY, August 14. At the Rosebery races today Golden ! Chance, who was a maiden performer a month ago, attractively won the open sprint in fairly good company, enhancing his prospects in his important spring engagements. Results arc: — Flying Handicap, of 110 sovs; six furlongs.—Golden Chance, 7.9 (Knox.<,| 1; Bimboy. 7.12. 2; Paddora, 7.4, 3. Nineteen started. Won by three-quarters of a length. Time—l.l4—-a quarter of a second under the race record. Rosebery Handicap, of 110 sovs; one mile and a quarter.—Forestry, 8.5 (Bartle), 1; Village Maiden, 7.4, 2; Ramrod, 8.9, 3. Nine started, including Samovar. Won by two lengths. Time—2.73—a race record. This was Forestry’s second successive win. Daceyville Welter Mile, of 100 sovs; first division.—Limoux, 8.5 (McCarten), 1; Beauanton, 8.7, 2; Caramba, 9.0, 3. Thirteen started, including Jutland. Won by three-quarters of a length. Time—l. 42.
