As a result of negotiations between the board’s engineer and the Department the southern power supply point would be situated at • the cross-roads some three miles from Paparoa. At that point a sub-station would be erected. The northernmost supply point would be situated in the vicinity of Maungatapere. Main Power Line. The question whether the Public Works Department could assist the board by immediately going on with the construction of the main power line to the North Auckland Board’s area, was brought up in a letter which the chairman had addressed to the chief engineer of the department. The chairman had instanced thav in the Hawke's Bay Power Board’s area the Government had immediately put in hand the construction of the main power lines. The chief engineer replied that in the Hawke's Bay are?, the finance for the main power lines was, provided under the appropriation for the Mangahao power supply scheme. There was, however, no such vote available for North Auckland. “We might have saved from six to | nine months had the money been available,” commented the chairman. i
