Gloucester dismissed the South Africans at Cheltenham for 201, and, in winning by 87 runs, the county inflicted on the visitors the first defeat of their tour. The Gloucestershire victory was largely due to D. A. C. Page’s bowling changes. After the South Africans had scored 150 for three wickets, Sinfield (who made a century in the county’s first innings) f dismissed. Cameron and Rowan within three balls, starting a collapse from which the visitors were unable to recover.
