Abyssinia’s Case Stated
FULL SOVEREIGNTY
haile selassie’s policy help from the league but not a mandate. limited Press Association—By Electric Telegraph. — Copyright.! (Received 10 a.m.) LONDON, August 13. In a copyright message to “The Times” from Addis Ababa, a special correspondent says it is now possible to indicate the policy of the Emperor of Ethiopia, Haille Selassie, more clearly. His Majesty will accept no arrangement which limits in any way the sovereignty of Abyssinia or her political independence, and territorial integrity. t It is believed that the Emperor would accept economic or social aid from the League of Nations, but not a mandate, or any solution outside the framework of the League’s Covenant. It is officially denied that the Emperor offered to cede territory against economic advantages, but the idea of an exchange of territory still appears to be acceptable.
