PRODUCTION INCREASES
WORLD’S STAPLE FIBRE. (Received 10 a.m.) LONDON, August 12. The Berlin correspondent of the “Financial News” says the world production of staple fibre in the last few months increased even faster than that of artificial silk. In the first six months of 1935, he says. 28,540 metric tens were produced, representing an increase 'of 75 P er cent over the same period for 1934. Japan produced 11,350 tons, Italy 7560, Germany 5520. France 1475 and Britain 1455. Further increases are planned. The “Financial Times” says official intervention reduces the price of vistra fibre from two marks per kilogram to 1.80 marks. The monopoly and cartel agreements between the producers and consumers have been suspended, and manufacturers, who have pledged themselves to use German vistra. now have a yarn nearer the- Italian ""d Japanese prices ruling in Hamburg.
