VOTED TWICE
EX-MAYOR BLAMES DRINK. (Received 10 a.m.) SYDNEY, August 12. John Joseph Connelly, aged 49 formerly Mayor of the suburb of Water- ™ and a leading figure in local polih nffnirs was convicted at the quar--0? USs today of dual voting at the Waterloo Municipal elections mPecprnber. He was bound over to be of pood behaviour for 12 months, and directed to refrain from entering a hotel bar during that period. Conneliv’s defence was that he had been drinking on election day, and that he had no knowledge of voting twice.
