CHILD RESCUED

ALMOST SUFFOCATED. FELL IN POST HOLE. [Special to "Northern Advocate”] OPOTIKI, This Day. A child at Houpoto, near the Motu River Bridge, had a narrow escape from suffocation. The two-year-old son of Mr E. Parkinson was missing, and, after a lengthy search, his father noticed his shoes /showing just above the ground. The little boy had been ini the habit of following a duck, and the bird had apparently fallen into a post hole. When extricated, the boy was nearly suffocated. At the bottom of the hole the duck was found dead having been suffocated by the boy’s hands and head.
