MAORI RUGBY TEAM
New Zealand has good reason to be proud of the way in wbieh the Maori Rugby football team has acquitted itself in Australia. It concluded its tour on Saturday, when it defeated New South Wales by 14 to 5. This was a fine finish to a victorious march through Queensland, Victoria and New South Wales, during which they lost only two games out of the* ten games played. An indication of the superiority of the Maoris .may be gathered froin the fact that they scored 245 points, and had only 132 points scored against them, a record the more meritorious when it is remembered that the team suffered severely from influenza in the earlier part of the tour. The visit of the Maori- team has been warmly commended by the press of Australia, which has declared that, ns a result of it, a fillip has been given to the Rugby Union game in the Commonwealth. It is good to know that the Maoris have made such a fine impression in Australia, not only for their prowess on the field, but for their bearing and conduct off the field. They have reflected credit upon themselves and honour upon their country, and, we believe, have done not a little to cement the good relationship Avhich should exist between Australia and New Zealand.
