Price advices received as at the close of business on the Smithfield market last week are as follows: Bank of New Zealand; —Wethers: The market is short of supplies and prices are nominal. Ewes: There is a little better demand. Lambs: Prices are steady. Trade is affected by hot weather. Quotations: Wethers, light, 4id to 4;;d per lb; heavy, 3 3-8 dto 4 l-8d; ewes, 2d to 27-8 d; lambs, twos, 7 l-8d to 7 3-8 d; eights, 7 l-8d to 7 3-8 d; fours, 7d to 7 l-8d; seconds, 6d to 6 3-Bd. New Zealand Meat Producers’ Board:—Lambs: The market is very firm, with prices unchanged. Mutton: Wethers are meeting with more inquiry, with improved prices. The market for ewes -is dull and unchanged. Beef: The market is still i oversupplied with chilled beef. New Zealand porkers: The market is firm, but trade is slow owing to hot j weather.
