The Sydney hurdler, Sixteen Annas, .followed up his success in.'the Leamington Hurdles at Caulfield on July 20 by winning the Aberfieldie Hurdles at the Moonee Valley Racing Club’s meeting yesterday. Sixteen Annas has become the favourite for the Australian Hurdles, which is to be run at Caulfield next Saturday. Yesterday he carried a stone more than he has to carry at Caulfield. He is owned by Mr N. R. McKennar, part owner of Delwood, who won the Brush Hurdles at Victoria Park, Sydney, yesterday. A race record of 4.48 A was established by Character in winning the Lindesay Gordon Steeplechase, in which he scored by four lengths from Buckler. Palatinate, a member of S. G, Ware’s team, and Chenaris were unplaced in the Derrimut Handicap. Bunsby Gaze was unplaced in the Glen Orla Handicap and First Song in the first division of the Sunset Welter. , Results: — Aberfoldie Hurdles. —Sixteen Annas, 11.0 (L. J. Hinds), 1; Martext, 9.5 (Dillon), 2; Cape Don, 9.5 (Bain), 3. Ten started, including The Mirror. Won by a length; five lengths. Time—3.s3 1 ,. Lindesay Gordon Steeplechase.— Character, 10.6 (J. Meagher), 1; Buckler, 10.6 (Healey), 2; Pactolus, 11.7 (Webster), 3. Nine started. Four lengths; three lengths. Time—4.4B|—a race record.

DEAD HEAT IN NOVICE,

The New Zealand gelding, Golden Chance, a full brother to Golden Wings, dead-heated with Pattie’s Gift in the Novice Handicap at the Victoria Park races yesterday, the pair running a race record in 1.39£, Waikare, by Limond from Waterwings, winner of the Metropolitan last year, was third in the first division of the Flying Handicap, in which Prince Pombal was unplaced. Gladswood, by Limond from Curtain, was second in the Victoria Park Handicap, one mile and a quarter and 121 yards. Watch Officer was unplaced in the Brush Hurdles. Results:—
Novice Handicap, of 130 sovs: one mile—Golden Chance (N.Z.), 9.0 (R. Reed), and Pattie's Gift, 6.11 (E. R. Richards), dead heat, 1; Salted Almond, 7.10 (E. Ross)* 3. Eleven started. Third horse half a length behind the dead-heaters. Time—l.39:l—a race record.
INJURED JOCKEYS

The jockeys, W. Gates, J. McEvoy, H. Zcnski, r", Marsden. and R. Skelton, who were injured when six horses fell in the Maiden Three-and-four-year-old Handicap at Rosehill last Wednesday are all recovering.

The Auckland-owned four-year-old Lirnarch. by Limond from Queen March, lias developed shoulder trouble. His trainer, J. T. Jamieson is treating him, but is afraid it may interfere with his preparations for the spring events.
