! WEDDING. | NIXON—WHITTEN. A very pretty wedding was solemnised at the Methodist Church, Okaihau, at 2.30 p.m.. on 17th July, the contracting parties being Miss Ellen Edith Whitten, late of the Rawene Hospital staff, and second daughter of Mr and Mrs Whitten, of Napier, and Mr Claude Horace Nixon, elder son of Mrs and the late Mr H. Nixon, of Okaihau. The officiating minister was Mr Duder. The bride, who entered the church with her brother-in-law, Mr F. Freeman, wore a frock of silver grey silk velvet trimmed with silver grey fur, with red posy on the shoulder, and carried a bouquet of red sWeet peas and carnations. Miss O. Pausina attended the bride, wearing a frock of red velvet, with silver trimmings and hat to match, her bouquet being rosebuds and poppies. Mr C. Wells carried out the duties of best man.
After the ceremony a reception was held at the home of Mr and Mrs Freeman (sister of the bride), where between thirty and forty of the guests were entertained to a delightful afternoon tea, and where the usual toasts were honoured.
Later in the afternoon, the bride and bridegroom left on a motoring tour to extend as far south as Napier, the bride travelling in a brown tailored costume, with hat and shoes to match.
