ALL AUSTRALIA HOCKEY
A WIN FOR N.Z. LADIES. DEFEAT OF QUEENSLAND. (Received 9 a.m.) MELBOURNE, July 26The New Zealand women's 'hockey team today defeated Queensland by three goals to nil. Miss McKenzie played centre, and ' began 'splendidly, and scored twice, one goal, however, being disallowed, because she played after the whistle. Then she collided with a Queensland player and received a hard knock, but was able to continue.
Play was suspended again when Miss Drake received a severe blow under one eye from a rising ball. SHe was taken to hospital, but returned to watch the match after treatment.
In the second spell New Zealand played'one short and Miss McKenzie was transferred to inner right. Queensland attacked strongly, but could not score. Mrs Reid had a shot at goal just inside the circle, but Queensland cleared. However. Miss Cotter rushed and Miss McKenzie secured her second goal.
New Zealand scored again just before the final bell, when Miss Saville was successful with a clean shot. Western Australia defeated South Australia by four goals to nil.
