A well-known traveller for wine and spirit firms, John George Rutherford, was found guilty in the Supreme Court yesterday on two charges cf theft of a keg of whisky and a case of wine, the property of Hughes and Cossar, Auckland. The jury disagreed on five charges of false pretences in which accused was alleged to have presented bogus orders on liquor on which he was paid commission. The Crown Prosecutor applied for a re-trial on the false pretences charge, intimating that it would be necessary to apply to the Solicitor-General for direction. Accused was remanded for sentence.
