WHANGAROA
GUILD AFTERNOON. The Ladies’ Guild of the Kaeo Methodist,Church, held an afternoon in the Library on Tuesday, when a pleasant time was spent by all. The winners of the competitions were Mrs F. Silk and Mrs J. Murray. Hospital Dance. A very successful dance was held in Pye’s Hall, Kaeo, on Thursday. The function was held to raise funds to pay for the hospital wireless set. The hall Was beautifully decorated 1 with greenery and gaily-colouredi paper butterflies., The programme consisted of novelty dances, some of -which caused a great deal of amusement. A very dainty supper was served by the ladies’ committee. / Golf. Kaeo played Matangirau at Kaeo on Saturday. The results of the games are as follows, the Kaeo players being mentioned first: — Whitehead beat C. HoWs, 2 and 1; Uarron beat Parkin, 3 and 1; Chappell beat Silk, 4 and 3; Lane beat I. Shepherd, 4 and 3; W. Whitehead beat Harper, 3 and 2. Miss Green lost to -Mrs I. Shepherd, 4 and 2; Miss Clark beat Mrs C. Hows, 5 and 4; Miss Taylor beat Miss Padlie, 3 and 2; Miss Hills beat Miss Shepherd, 5 and 4. Rugby. The Possibles v. Probables match, held for the purpose of selecting a representative team from the Whangaroa Union, was played on the Union ground at Kaeo on Saturday. The ground was in a shocking, condition, and after a few minutes’ play, the players were indistinguishable. The result of the match is that the following players Will play for Whangaroa against Hokianga;—Pawai, A. Johns, A. McKeown, Steve Taniora, Shepherd, Hona, S. Smith, Blucher, H. Rika, Blucher, R. Herbert, T. Rudolph, W. McGee, P. Rae, W. Taniora. Reserves: G. Hudspilh, D. King, Peter Hills, A. Bramley.
