BANKS' WHEELBARROW RACE
MANAGERS AS PASSENGERS.

The Christchurch banks’ staffs today held a wheelbarrow race in the centre of the city to raise funds for the Queen Carnival to relieve distress. All the passengers in the barrows were Christchurch bank managers.
A crowd'of thousands thronged the short street where the race was held and members of the banks staffs mostly in fancy dress, collected £llO.
